80, Mount York Road,
Lake Te Anau 9600
The main Barnyard was built by the owner, John Barker, and has survived a 7.2 magnitude earthquake... and thousands of tourists from all over the world!
The main building is where you'll find reception and the guys and girls there are more than happy to talk to you about your plans for your stay in Fiordland. We've been on many of the excursions and walks so we'll offer an honest opinion and recommendation for you. Once you've decided, we can book your trips to take out any hassle of not getting exactly what you want.
On the cooler nights of the year you can sit in front of the the large fire in the main dining area or sit in the comfy seats upstairs for those that just want to chill out. Listen to soft music until you're ready to drift off to your cabin - a short walk down the hill.
We have washing and drying facilities in the main hostel area as well as a fully equipped kitchen with all the facilities that you'd expect with that.
Internet connection is via the wi-fi hotspot from the main hostel area and you can self-service your own purchases following the instructions in reception. We're currently giving you 100MB of data free!
